Moore Explores Apprenticeship as a Powerful New Paradigm of Chronic Disease Management

John Moore's PhD thesis focuses on the application of learning science principles to chronic disease management in order to empower patients to become active participants in their care. The goal is to improve outcomes while reducing cost and improving experience by maximizing patient self-efficacy in the setting of unprecedented clincian support, which is only achievable because of powerful new technology tools.

A piece entitled "A New Wave of Patient-Centered Care: Apprenticeship in the Management of Chronic Disease" was published in the Journal of Clincal Outcomes Management. Moore explores the potential for patients to not only develop self-efficacy but to develop mastery in goal-driven disease management tasks. They can then become mentors to other novice patients, effectively creating an exponentially scaling community of health.
